Here they are! The easiest, comfiest fleece blankets ever!! Scroll down to see JUST how easy they are. I do not have the patience to crochet an entire blanket, so here’s how I cheat!
Here’s a picture and list of what I use!
- These throw kits from Joanne Fabric’s make this SUPER convenient. A plus- they are frequently on sale! You can always pick your own fabrics. My go-to for baby blankets is the minky fleece and minky-dot fleece. Hobby Lobby has the best selection of the minky fabric I have found. So soft and perfect for babies.
- Self-healing cutting mat
- Regular rotary blade
- Perforating rotary blade
- Large ruler
- Size H crochet hook
- Regular yarn for the trim

Put fabric together, right sides out. These kits make squaring the fabric easy, but if you don’t have lines to follow, follow the lines on the cutting mat and ruler.

After you’ve trimmed to square, move the ruler in approximately half of an inch and use the perforating blade all the way around the border.

Here’s a look at what the fabric will look like after using the perforating blade:

You’re now ready to start crocheting! You can always pin the two pieces together to make sure your edges stay in line, but that’s optional. Could save some headache!
I start crocheting in one of the corners, single crochet all the way around, slip stitch into the first chain. My go-to border ends up looking like shells. The simplest way is to chain 2, then add 4 double crochet into the first single crochet. Skip a single crochet space, single crochet, skip a single crochet space, then 5 double crochet in the same single crochet space, and repeat all the way around. **On the corners I put about 8 double crochets to round the corner and then continue with the pattern. Slip stitch in at the end and weave in your edges! Simple and fast!
Here is the shell border, other styles I made are shown below:
