Colorful Wedding Centerpieces

These were my absolutely favorite wedding craft. My husband always says his favorite color is “red white and blue”. I didn’t want too much of a patriotic wedding, but I do love the darker, softer varieties of navy, maroon, and cream. So that’s how we got our colors!

My dad put together nearly 30 boxes from scrap wood and stained them dark.

We filled the bottoms with green craft foam. You can get large packs of the foam pretty inexpensively on Amazon.

I photographed a wedding in June of 2018 and later found out they were selling all of the decor they used at a rummage sale! Knowing already that I loved their look, I jumped on that which helped us stay on budget! I totally recommend checking the “Buy, Sell, Trade” or Facebook Marketplace for barely used wedding decor.

Inside their lot of items they had tons of wooden flowers from solawoodflowers.com. All I needed to do was die the light pink flowers a darker shade of rose to fit within our color scheme. **TIP** I died the flowers darker by watering down red acrylic paint and dipping them in a disposable cup; leaving them in the sun to dry. Super easy!

I then went to Michael’s and Hobby Lobby during some of their floral sales and picked out my favorite stems and filler to compliment the wood flowers! If you can wait, do not buy ANYTHING at Hobby Lobby unless it’s on sale. I’ve learned that their sales really just rotate back and forth week to week. If it’s not on sale one week, it will likely be on sale the next!

We trimmed the stems and filled the boxes as randomly as possible. It was a beautiful day in August so my mom and I sat outside and put the centerpieces together. Here’s how they turned out! We gave a lot away after the wedding was over and kept some of my favorites. They work perfectly as decor in the house now too!
